Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. \n\nWSET Level 1 Information \nWho should take the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Course?\n\nYou are a wine enthusiast who wish to gain a hands-on introduction into the world of wine and wants to obtain an internationally recognized wine qualification\nYou are employed in the drinks and hospitality industries and have little prior knowledge of wine in general\n\n\n WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Prerequisites\nStudents must be 21 years of age by the date of the course. \nThere are no prerequisites to this course. \n\nCourse Outline\nIn this course\, the following topics will be covered: \n\nThe main types and styles of wine\nCommon wine grapes and their characteristics\nHow to store and serve wine\nThe principles of food and wine pairing\nHow to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)\n\nThe link to the specifications for the course can be found here: \nWSET Level 1 Award in Wines Specifications \n\nAssessment and Certification\nThe WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 30 multiple choice questions\, to be completed in 45 minutes.  A minimum mark of 70% is needed to obtain certification. \n\nSchedule\nSunday\, October 25\, 2026; 9:00am- 5:00pm \n\nSix hours of instruction\n1 hour break for lunch\n45 minutes for assessment\n\n\nCourse Fee\nThe course fee for the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines course is $425. It will teach you about the key grape varieties that are grown around the world\, the regions in which they grow\, and the different styles of wine that these varieties produce. It will also expand on the Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting that is introduced in the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. This course is a fantastic overview of the world of international wines and is suitable for wine enthusiasts and industry professionals. \n\nWSET Level 2 Award in Wines \nWho should take the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Course?\n\nYou are a wine enthusiast with a beginner to intermediate level of wine knowledge who wishes to gain in-depth knowledge of wines and wants to obtain an internationally recognized wine qualification\nYou are employed in the drinks and hospitality industries and have some prior knowledge of wines in general and international wines in particular\n\n\n WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Prerequisites\nStudents must be at least 21 years of age upon course enrollment. \nLevel 1 Award in Wines is not required to take this course. However\, you should have a good base knowledge of wine before registering for WSET Level 2.\n\nCourse Outline\n\nHow environmental factors\, grapegrowing\, winemaking\, and maturation techniques affect the style and qualities of wine made from key grape varieties\nKey white grape varieties\n\nChardonnay\, Pinot Gris/Grigio\, Sauvignon Blanc\, Riesling\n\n\nKey black grape varieties\n\nCabernet Sauvignon\, Merlot\, Pinot Noir\, Syrah/Shiraz\n\n\nThe style and quality of wines:\n\nmade from 22 regionally important grape varieties\nproduced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world\n\n\nHow grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:\n\nSparkling wines\nFortified wines\n\n\nKey labeling terms used to indicate origin\, style and quality\nPrinciples and processes involved in the storage and service of wine\nPrinciples of food and wine pairing\n\nThe link to the specifications for the course can be found here: \nWSET Level 2 Award in Wines Specifications \n\nAssessment and Certification\nThe WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 50\nmultiple-choice questions\, to be completed in 60 minutes. \nA candidate is required to pass with a minimum mark of 55 per cent. \n\nTasting Glasses\nYou will be required to bring your own glassware to class. A great tasting glass is an extremely important tool\, and we can suggest some good options for you upon registration. \n\nSchedule\nThis course is presented in an intensive\, two day course with a separate one hour exam two weeks later.
