Join us in welcoming Edward Holmes with J. Bookwalter Winery for an exploration of the stories and wines of behind one of Washington’s most classic producers on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. We’ll taste five wines paired with cheese and charcuterie while learning about this historic winery.
WHAT IS J. BOOKWALTER WINERY?
Established in 1983, this family-owned and operated winery produces world class wines from lower Columbia Valley vineyards established and managed by pioneer Washington viticulturist Jerry Bookwalter from the late 70’s forward.
Jerry’s son John took over operation of the winery in 1997 and ownership in 2008. His unrelenting focus on quality and exceptional value keeps Bookwalter wines top of mind for critics and consumers alike.
In 2021 a new production facility was built on property and the original winery space was incorporated into their award-winning onsite restaurant, Fiction. With tasting rooms in both Richland and Woodinville and distribution in 30 states, Bookwalter’s intention is to continue highlighting the story of superior Washington wine for generations to come.
WHO IS EDWARD HOLMES?
Born and raised in Seattle and currently splitting time between Central WA and Coeur d’Alene, ID –
Edward Holmes has spent the last 28 years managing some of the most successful and recognized
winery operations in America (Sonoma-Cutrer, King Estate, DAOU), that experience codified an
appreciation and understanding of how important quality and authenticity is to building wine brands
and the culture of wine alike.
Edward’s passion for wine started in his late teens as he was introduced to winemaking and ethos of the
industry through family friend and Washington wine pioneer Paul Thomas. That passion has only grown,
and in taking on a managing partner roll with John Bookwalter in 2022 recognizes the long-held dream
to be an integral part of Washington wine culture.
Holding his CSW, CSS, WSET 2 and 3, plus a graduate certificate from UC Davis Wine Executive Program, Edwards commitment to continued learning and expanded appreciation of REAL wine from REAL places is met through daily interaction with the people, brands and places associated with viticulture. An unremitting interest in all things from the vine, earth, sky and kitchen…you can find him in the mountains, skiing, bicycling, on motorcycle or foot usually within sight of a good book and even better bottle of wine.
Light cheese and charcuterie will be served to enhance your experience.
Featured wines are offered at a 10% discount for attendees (15% for wine club members!).
