WSET Level 1 Award in Wines- Hayden Beverage Private Course

• You are a wine enthusiast who wish to gain a hands-on introduction into the world of wine and wants to obtain an internationally recognized wine qualification
• You are employed in the drinks and hospitality industries and have little prior knowledge of wine in general

Students must be 21 years of age by the date of the course.

There are no prerequisites to this course.

In this course, the following topics will be covered:

• The main types and styles of wine
• Common wine grapes and their characteristics
• How to store and serve wine
• The principles of food and wine pairing
• How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Specifications

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 30 multiple choice questions, to be completed in 45 minutes.  A minimum mark of 70% is needed to obtain certification.

Wednesday, April 8th: 9:00am- 4:15pm

• Six hours of instruction
• 30 minute break for lunch
• 45 minutes for assessment

    This is a six hour course. There will be a 30 minute review session and 45 minute exam at the conclusion of the course.
    
    Total Curriculum Hours including 45 minute exam: 7.25 hours
    
    WSET Level 1 Course Pricing
    Alll fees including non-refundable registration fee, study kit, experiment supplies, learning sessions, exam are to be paid by Hayden Beverage. Upon a passing exam mark, students will receive a certificate and lapel pin.

  • Exam Resit Policies*
    Students who have failed their previous WSET Level 1 Award in Wines exam may apply to re-sit the exam. The exam re-sit fee is $100 and students will have one year from the course start date to sit the exam.     The health and safety of our students, ourselves, and our community are of the utmost importance. These courses and the exam will be held in person.
    
    In light of rising COVID-19 infection rates, the following policies are in place:
    1. Students who feel ill or show symptoms of illness such as fever, shortness of breath, and coughing may not attend.
    2. Any students who have been in contact with a person with a positive confirmed case of COVID-19 with the past 10 days may not attend.
    3. Any person who has contracted COVID-19 in the past 10 days may not attend.
    4. Additional preventative measures may be required and the above measured amended on the course date according to Hayden Beverage policy and state and local official policies.

    I understand that the Program involves the tasting of wine. I am aware of the risks and hazards associated with or related to consuming alcohol. Furthermore, I am aware that the effects of alcohol can be severe, including impairment of my motor skills and judgment. I accept full responsibility in the event that my actions are affected by any alcohol I have chosen to consume.
    
    In consideration of the Releasees allowing me to participate in the Program, I agree: (a) to freely accept and assume all risks, dangers and hazards arising out of, associated with or related to my participation; (b) to be solely responsible for any injury, loss or damage that I might sustain while participating; and (c) to forever release the Releasees from liability for any and all claims, actions and costs that might arise out of my participation, even though such risks, injuries, loss, damage, claims, demands, actions or costs may have been caused by the negligence of the Releasees.
    
    I acknowledge that I have read the Program description, the conditions of my registration and participation, and this agreement in its entirety. I have executed this agreement voluntarily, and understand that this agreement is to be binding on myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and representatives.
